Roundtable Discussion on Human Rights Day Celebration of International Human Rights Day 2014: In order to observe Human Rights Day, JAMAKON organized a rally on 10 December 2014. The rally started from the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) and ended at Shaheed Minar of University of Dhaka. Holding placards and banners and wearing colorful T-shirts and caps hundreds of people from NGOs and Brave Men volunteers participated in the rally. About 300 participants attended the rally. At the outset of the rally, Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman released balloons to launch the rally. Referring to this year’s theme, i.e. Human Rights 365, he said that every day should be a human rights day and that its importance is significant for Bangladesh. He mentioned that Bangladesh is fought for a society where equality, social justice and human dignity would be treated as core values. Another three rallies were organized in Barisal, Rangpur and Sylhet in partnership with Saint Bangladesh, IDEA, and PASS respectively. The rally rounded around 30 the city centre of the three districts. More than six hundreds participants attended in the rally. Representatives of local administration, civil society members, NGOs representative and students participated in the rally with holding colorful placards, banners and festoons which were containing key messages of Human Rights Day Rally human rights. The local folk team also played their different instruments in the rally. The local organizers and public representatives delivered speech in the rally on the theme and importance of the human rights day.
