7. ICC Accreditation
In the 26th Commission Meeting, the
Committee for Protection of Religious
Minorities and Committee for Protection
of Rights for Ethnic Group were merged
together. A new committee on ESC rights
has been formed. It was decided that
consultant from UNDP will assist the
thematic committees. Committee for
Child Rights, Child Labour and Trafficking
will arrange seminar on elimination of
child labour focusing on child domestic
workers and prohibition of child marriage
was also decided on that meeting.
In the 28th Commission Meeting, it was
decided that the JAMAKON would submit
application for ICC accreditation (‘A’ status)
by September 2014.

In the 29th
Commission Meeting,
JAMAKON decided that JAMAKON would
conduct a National Inquiry on ‘Access
to Education of the Children of Slum
Dwellers’. Mr. Zahid Hossain of BNHRC
-CDP was given responsibility to prepare a
detailed concept note in this regard.
In the 27th Commission Meeting,
JAMAKON decided to file a writ petition
regarding “Seven Murder at Narayanganj”
and briefed the press about the
Commission’s decision regarding this very
case. In the 28th Commission Meeting, it
was decided that one Commissioner will
file a writ petition regarding “Two years
unlawful detention of Tanvir for murder of
journalists” and Adv. Fawzia Karim Firoze
will take necessary actions in this regard. .
