Annual Report 2016 The seminar encompassed open discussion where representatives from government organizations, NGOs, Civil Society Organizations and media participated. NHRC also celebrated the day in its district offices in Khulna and Rangamati. 3.1.3 Representation of NHRC at Abroad NHRC Delegates attended 29th Annual Meeting of the ICC NHRC delegation attended the 29th Annual Meeting of the International Coordinating Committee (ICC), Asia Pacific Forum (APF) Regional Meeting and Commonwealth Forum of National Human Rights Institutes’ Annual Meeting, held in Geneva, Switzerland on March 21-23, 2016. On March 21, the meeting discussed about the issues arising from the ICC Bureau meeting; the APF’s position on the proposed amendments to the ICC Statute. The second day of the meeting discussed about the ICC Communications project, follow-up of the Merida Declaration adopted in 12th International Conference of NHRIs in 2015. On March 23, the meeting highlighted current challenges to human rights protection; the role of NHRIs in conflict and post conflict situations; refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, displaced persons and the role of NHRIs in addressing the issues. In this meeting, the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (ICC) changed its name to Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI). 21st Annual Meeting of the APF NHRC delegation attended 21st annual meeting of the APF, held in Bangkok, Thailand on October 26-17. The meeting brought together all 22 APF member institutions, along with representatives from the national human rights institutions of Bahrain, Fiji, Iraq and Pakistan. The NHRC delegation comprised of Kazi Reazul Hoque, Chairman, NHRC; Md. Nazrul Islam, Full-Time Member, NHRC; Ms. Banchita Chakma, Member, NCRCB and Md. Shorif Uddin, Director, NHRC. During the meeting, APF members including Bangladesh provided a short overview of their current activities and priorities, as well as participated in an open dialogue with NGOs from the region on issues of shared concern. Participation in the 65th Session of CEDAW A delegation from National Human Rights Commission led by hon’ble Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque attended 65th Session of CEDAW in Geneva, Switzerland on 06-09 November 2016. The delegation comprised of Md. Nazrul Islam, Full Time Member and Ms. Nurun Naher Osmani, Member. NHRC delegation submitted report to the CEDAW committee. 24
