• The Australian Government should increase education activities targeted to children to promote an understanding of privacy and prevent image-based abuse and exposure to pornography. • The Australian Government should ensure digital accessibility for children with disabilities, particularly in relation to online content, audio description and captioning to foster participation in wider society and education. Safety • The Australian Government should increase prevention measures and responses to family violence that address the distinct impacts on children. • Australian Governments should provide child-specific therapeutic intervention, counselling and early intervention programs for child victims of family and domestic violence, delivered across a range of services. • Australian Governments should remove legal defences for the use of corporal punishment across all education, care and private settings, and implement educational programs for parents, carers and educators. • The Australian Government should amend the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth) to require that children are provided with an opportunity to express their views in all matters that affect their rights or interests. A child should not be compelled to express a view but should be provided with the opportunity to do so in a manner appropriate to their age and maturity. • Australian Governments should ensure all children receive respectful relationships education targeted to different group needs. • The Australian Government should implement a nationally consistent, standardised model for checking the suitability of people in child-related work across all jurisdictions. • The Australian Government should support the National Children’s Commissioner and others to promote implementation of the National Principles in organisations working with and for children. 31
