REPORT BY THE SUB-COMMITTEE ON UNCRC 41 The registration of CCIs should only be under JJ Act and the Act of 1960 should be amended to cover only such charitable institutions that do not cater to children in need of care and protection as defined in the JJ Act (If the Act of 1960 is not amended, there would remain two enactments under which CCIs can be registered, leading to confusion in both implementation and monitoring of standards of care and protection in child care institutions). To ensure minimum standards of care and protection for all children deprived of family environment, it is imperative to have one single procedure for registration of CCIs.
