Memorandum by Orang Asli Lojing’s Native 25 January Customary Land Action Committee on the encroachment on Orang Asli area in Lojing, Gua Musang S U H A K A M A N N U A L R EPOR T 2017 65 2 The number of complaints lodged with the Commission has decreased to 8.65% from the year before, with 369 complaints received at its Kuala Lumpur office, 388 complaints received at its Sabah office and 46 complaints received at its Sarawak office during the year. Nonetheless, the total number of complaints with regard to violations of human rights which are within the Commission’s jurisdiction has increased as compared to the previous year. The increase in the number of such complaints correlates with the active promotional activities organised by the Commission throughout the year and indicates the increasing awareness among Malaysians of their rights. With regard to the method of receiving complaints, 62.5% were made by the complainants at the Commission’s office, of which 26 were in the form of memoranda. The locations of the Commission’s offices which are in the city centre and are accessible by various forms of transportation made it easy for the public to come and lodge their complaints personally. The remaining complainants were submitted through other means such as email, correspondence, phone calls, e-complaint system and submission during the Commission’s roadshow programme.
