The Commission commends the Malaysian government for its efforts in providing humanitarian aid to alleviate the sufferings of the Rohingyas, and for taking a firm stance against the atrocities and human rights violations committed against the Rohingya community and for calling for an end to the violence in the Rakhine State of Myanmar. The Commission hopes that the Malaysian government will continue to be at the forefront in raising the plight of the Rohingyas. While welcoming the government’s pilot project to provide Rohingyas in Malaysia with access to employment, the Commission calls upon the government to extend such opportunities to other refugees. A lot more needs to be done to address the gaps in safeguarding the rights of all refugees in Malaysia particularly their right to education and healthcare and to be free from discrimination and mistreatment. 2.
