The amendment of WDPA8, on 29 December 2015, has broadened the range of educational institution facilitating awareness-raising program on persons with disabilities to government agencies, local governments, daycare centers based on the Infant Care Act, and schools based on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the Early Childhood Education Act, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the Higher Education Act. The results of program are required to be reported back to the Minister of Health and Welfare. List of possible inquiries for consideration 24. Provide detailed information on the status of disparaging and belittling comments in newspapers, TV programs and personal online broadcasting channels, and the measures adopted by the government to resolve the related issues. 25. Provide the curriculum of awareness-raising program on persons with disabilities per types of institution, the statistical data regarding the number of hours facilitated for the programs, the number of individual and institutional participants of the programs, and the awareness-level of general population prior to and after the facilitation of programs. 26. With the CRPD’s recommendation to the State party “to systematically and continuously publicize and educate government officials, members of Parliament, the media, and the general public on the contents and purpose of the Convention”, provide statistical data on the government-initiated public advertisements and education on the Convention, and information regarding the awareness level of general public in regards to the Convention. Article 9- Accessibility Current status 27. On 14 December 2017, the Commission recommended amendment of the Enforcement Decree and the Enforcement Rule of the Act on Promotion of Convenience for the Disabled, 8 Article 25 (Improvement of Social Perception) (1) The State and local governments shall implement publicity campaigns, such as education and public advertisement to students, public officials, workers, and general public, to improve perception of persons with disabilities. (2) The heads of State agencies and local governments, child-care centers under the Infant Care Act, the heads of various levels of schools under the Early Childhood Education Act, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the Higher Education Act, and the heads of other educational institutions and public organizations prescribed by Presidential Decree shall conduct education of employees and students under their jurisdiction for the improvement of perception of persons with disabilities, and submit the results thereof to the Minister of Health and Welfare. <Newly Inserted by Act No. 13663, Dec. 29, 2015> 8
