Visit to Sunamganj Jail NHRC’s action on fire on Ovijan-10 launch The National Human Rights Commission expressed deep condolences on the death of 40 persons and injury of many in fire at Ovijan-10 launch in Sugandha river, Jhalokathi. NHRCB Chairman and Full Time Member went to Sheikh Hasina Burn Unit to see the people burned by fire. Commission believes that it is important to investigate the reason of fire. It is also important to investigate for whose carelessness this fire was caused. Creating awareness on preventing smoking in public spaces and transport and strengthening fire fighting system in transport are also needed. Commission believes that those who are responsible for this fire incidence should be brought to justice and given exemplary punishment. NHRC called on relevant authorities to provide sufficient compensation to the families of the dead persons.
