Editorial I am pleased to edit the annual report 2021 of NHRC. This report has been prepared as part of activities of NHRC. The Commission is responsible to prepare annual report and submit it to the Hon’ble President of People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Hon’ble Chairman and Full-Time Member’s guidance has enriched this report. Moreover, the suggestion that I got from hon’ble Chairman has made my work easier and faster. The overall structure of the report follows the structure of previous years. Not much has been changed in the composition of the first (Introduction to the commission) and fifth (Challenges & Way Forward) chapters as the background and functions of the commission are unchanged and many obstacles remain. However, the information in the second, third and fourth chapters is completely new and those chapters reflect the significant functions of the Commission in 2021. Many, especially human rights activists and journalists, are interested in the Commission's views on the human rights situation in Bangladesh; the second chapter presents an analysis of the human rights situation in Bangladesh in 2021. The third chapter contains a detailed reflection of the Commission's complaint management and the fourth chapter details important actions. The year 2021 bought a new different scenario infront of us through the Covid-19 pandemic. Whole world is devasted due to the pandemic. Bangladesh also is facing many troubles to overcome this crisis. Commission’s activities continued fighting all the challenges in this crisis situation. The activities of NHRC continued as usual despite all the limitations. I express my gratitude to hon’ble Chairman, hon’ble Full Time Member and Honorary Members for giving me valuable guidance in drafting this annual report.
