Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions
The APF has continued to implement actions in response to an independent review of the effectiveness
of the APF undertaken by a number of the APF’s donor organisations in 2009–10, including the alignment
of its reporting timetable with strategic and business planning cycles and the adoption in September
2011 of Forum Councillors of the APF policy on gender mainstreaming.
Member’s feedback on the management of the APF was again unanimously positive and their median
ratings of various services, shown in Figure 15 remain at historic highs. Members’ comments support
this finding.
“The Secretariat is very effective and successful in what it produces. It sets a
great example to other secretariats to follow.”
Jordan National Centre for Human Rights
“The Secretariat helps the NHRIs in the region feel (and be) connected,
facilitates relationships and good practice sharing. It also facilitates capacity
building, advocacy and policy development.”
New Zealand Human Rights Commission
