Annual Report 2011–2012 Photograph: Human Rights Commission of Mongolia. • a dialogue with selected parliamentarians and government representatives • a national seminar of stakeholders on establishing an NPM in Mongolia, and • a training session for staff of the National Human Rights Commission and selected civil society organisations on the establishment and operation of an effective NPM. During the national seminar the representative from Mongolia’s Ministry of Justice restated the Government’s intention to ratify OPCAT and confirmed that the Government intends to designate the NHRI of Mongolia as the NPM. The NHRI of Mongolia confirmed that it will seek amendments to its founding legislation to enable it to effectively undertake the responsibilities of an NPM. Library and information systems A week-long workshop was held from 26–30 June 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to strengthen the capacity of librarians and resource centre staff within NHRIs in the Asia Pacific to access and manage human rights and legal information for the benefit of staff and others. Topics covered during the workshop included: • librarianship ‘best practices’ • web-based libraries • creating a virtual library • human rights resources on the internet • mastering web searching • mastering Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 • cataloguing, classification and indexing, and • marketing the library and policy issues.
