The NHRC will also focus its interven�ons for the protec�on of the rights of the migrantworkers and their families including migra�on cost, irregular migra�on, safety, security
and wages of the migrat workers.
SP8: Enhance efficiency, effec�veness, and sustainability of the Commission
The NHRC, Bangladesh is s�ll accorded ‘B’ status by the Global Alliance on Na�onal
Human Rights Ins�tu�ons (GANHRI), a global network of Na�onal Human Rights Ins�tu�ons
(NHRIs). This network examines the NHRIs and seeks to understand how much the NHRIs
are in compliant with the Paris Principles. Based on the results of its assessment, the
GANHRI accords the UN member States A, B, or C status. NHRC will con�nue its efforts to
upgrade to ‘A’ status, i.e., fully complaint with the Paris Principles and par�cipate in the
work of the United Na�ons Human Rights Council and its mechanisms. In doing so, NHRC
will interact closely and support the State and other CSOs towards achieving compliance.
In addi�on, the NHRC will seek to establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with
new and exis�ng development partners towards further diversifica�on of its funding
sources. Further, the NHRC will review and strengthen its performance management
system at the policy, management, and opera�onal levels. The NHRC is developing and
reviewing its internal func�ons, policies, manuals, and procedures. This will ensure proper
and consistent policies that enhance effec�ve service delivery and the NHRC brand as an
independent statutory ins�tu�on.
Further, the NHRC will also seek to review and ins�tu�onalize its research unit, and
knowledge management system towards establishing a specialized resource centre for
research and dissemina�on of human rights knowledge, integrated and enhanced
learning, planning, and reten�on of valuable human rights informa�on is generated daily.
The commission also seeks to enhance its monitoring and evalua�on system; review and
ins�tu�onalize its knowledge management system; and strengthen its specialized
resource centre catering to research and dissemina�on of human rights knowledge to
sustain a learning culture across the organisa�on.
