In turn, it is competent to apply special criminal laws and the implementing regulations and decisions with regard to crimes regulated by these laws, and it has a section that deals with environmental crimes. The specialized prosecution exercises the powers of the competent authority for the initiation of criminal proceedings and prosecution of the cases before the courts.
