Ki te whaiao, ki te ao Mārama Statistics New Zealand’s Housing in Aotearoa 2020 report found, among other things, that 1 in 5 New Zealanders lived in a home that was always or often too cold in winter, but this rose to around 2 in 5 Pacific peoples. Overall, the report found that ethnic inequalities are apparent in housing, with both Māori and Pacific peoples experiencing poorer housing outcomes, and higher rates of crowding and homelessness.
