NHRC responses in this area, the Commission requested that it receive all custodial
death reports from the person in charge of
the concerned law enforcement agency
within 24 hours of the incident. In order to
make the reporting system more effective
& efficient, the Commission has drafted a
template for custodial death reports as well
as a forwarding letter explaining the purpose and advantages of such reporting.
This template is being used to ensure consistency in the decision making of the Commission as well as contributing to improve
its administrative efficiency.
