Provided support and advice on establishing NHRIs, including through scoping visits to Vanuatu, Kiribati and
Taiwan
•
More than 80 per cent of APF members reported an increased capacity to do their work, with ten citing APF
support as a crucial factor
•
Led High Level Dialogues and capacity assessment programs to assist four NHRIs in the region
•
Hosted a major regional conference on the role of NHRIs in responding to hate speech
•
Published a world-first guide for NHRIs on mainstreaming gender across all aspects of their work, and provided
increased support to APF members during COVID-19
•
Held a workshop on the international accreditation process for 11 NHRIs and provided specific advice and support
for others, with the NHRI of Afghanistan retaining ‘A status’
•
APF members collaborated on a regional action plan on human rights defenders and good practice guides for
human rights communication
•
Maintained very high levels of engagement and collegiality among the APF’s diverse membership, as reflected in
our annual survey.
