The ILO-C188 Convention is one of the most significant international
conventions aimed at protecting the rights of fishers working on fishing
vessels, with a primary goal of ensuring decent working conditions for
fishing crew members. The convention was enacted on November 16, 2017,
and has since been ratified by 21 countries.
