Observance of National Children Day National Human Rights Commission, Bangladesh organized a seminar on the occasion of 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day on 17 March 2018 at NHRCB Office. Kazi Reazul hoque, hon’ble Chairman of NHRCB chaired the program. Remembering the contribution of Bangabandhu he said, “The Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was so affectionate towards children that he enacted child protection act in 1974. Celebration children rights day on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birthday is the perfect decision.” He also said that despite some positive steps taken by government violence against children is still a reality. Thus, perpetrators of child abuse should be brought to justice immediately. Concerned authorities must perform their duties properly to ensure children’s safety. Meeting with Pramila Patten, Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict On 10 May 2018 Pramila Patten, Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict met the NHRC Chairman & Members discussed with Human Rights situation in regards to Rohingya crisis. During the discussion, she informed that she visited in Bangladesh last November and discussed with the relevant authorities including Chairman of NHRC. She recalled her experience of the last visit in November and also informed that she placed the matter in Human Rights Council & UN Security Council. Appreciating the commission's reports in preparing credible documentation on Sexual Violence & Rohingya crisis during the persecution in Myanmar. She expressed her desire to work with NHRC Annual Report-2018 32
