(a) Information received by principals and appointed decision-makers Principals and appointed decision-makers were most likely to have received information at some point about the process of arranging an FEPOA (77%), the rights and responsibilities of an appointed decision-maker (76%) or information on the rights of the principal (75%). However, this means that a quarter of principals and appointed decision-makers never received this information. The data showed that principals and appointed decision-makers were the least likely to have received information on how to seek help if they had issues after setting up an FEPOA (36% never received this information), how to cancel or revoke an FEPOA (37%) or how to resolve conflict arising from an FEPOA (42%). Appointed decision-makers were more likely than principals to have never received information about most aspects of the FEPOA, including information on: • the process of arranging an FEPOA (31% of appointed decision-makers) • the rights and responsibilities of an appointed decision-maker (28%) • the rights of the principal (30%) • the potential risks of an FEPOA (44%) • how to cancel or revoke an FEPOA (44%) • how to resolve conflict arising from an FEPOA (48%). Generally speaking, those who had never received information were more likely to be: • people aged over 65 years or older • people with lower income • people with lower education levels.
