Death of Devendranath Deka at Gauripur Outpost, Kamrup, Assam (Case No.25/3/2002-2003-CD) 4.206 In this case, the NHRC had recommended to the State of Assam to pay Rs. 1, 00,000 as monetary relief to the next of kin of the deceased. The Commission’s recommendations have been complied with and the case has been closed. 13. Beating up of Susheel Kumar and his Wife by the Police of Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh (Case No. 28117/24/2006-2007) 4.207 The Commission had recommended to the Government of Uttar Pradesh to pay Rs. 25, 000 as monetary relief to victim Susheel and Rs. 50,000 to his wife. The directions of the NHRC have been complied by the State Government. The case has been closed. 14. Illegal Detention and Physical Torture of Jaswant Singh Patel by the Police of Jahanabad, Uttar Pradesh (Case No. 5782/24/2003-2004) 4.208 The Commission recommended to the Government of Uttar Pradesh to pay Rs.1, 00,000 as monetary relief to the victim. The directions of the NHRC have been complied. The case has since been closed by the NHRC. 15. Illegal Detention of Ramesh, Santosh and Ram Gopal at PS Raja- khera, Dholpur, Rajasthan (Case No.1635/20/2002-2003) 4.209 The NHRC had recommended to the State Government to pay a sum of Rs.10, 000 as monetary relief to each of the three victims for their wrongful detention. The amount of monetary relief has been sanctioned by the State Government. However, the proof of final payment is awaited from the Government of Rajasthan. 16. Death of Nishu Sharma and Injuries to Rakesh Sharma during Police Firing at Domana, Jammu & Kashmir (Case No. 97/9/2005-2006) 4.210 The Commission had recommended to the State Government to pay Rs. 2, 00,000 as monetary relief to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the other injured victim. The recommendations of the NHRC have been complied by the State Government and the case has since been closed. 17. Severe Injuries to Kamleshwar Prasad Jaiswal due to Indiscriminate Police Firing in East Champaran, Bihar (Case No. 4112/4/2000-2001) 4.211 In this case, the Commission recommended to the State Government to pay Rs. 7, 00,000 as monetary relief to the complainant. However, the State Government agreed to pay Rs. 1, 00,000 only and requested the NHRC to review its directions. The NHRC, after considering the request of the State Government, has reiterated that its recommendations be complied with. The compliance report from the State Government is awaited. 62
