Oliver Sy Tanseco, Chief of the NCR Regional Maritime Unit of the PNP-MG also added to the presentation, saying that they “support the government’s efforts to provide the protection, preservation and sustainability of our fishery resources, particularly the protection of our marginalized fishermen.”139 One of their priorities is the implementation of RA No. 10654 which amended RA No. 8550, in particular, policing the intrusion of commercial fishing vessels in municipal waters. Being that the maritime group is the primary agency in charge of implementation of fishery laws, they are also prioritizing the training of Marine Protected Area (MPA) guards to compliment the manpower of the maritime group.140 Figure 8.
