9 standards, compulsory coverage (with employer's contribution) in State insurance funds, and the role of the Employee's Compensation Commission.25 Existing Programs, Services, and Initiatives In the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine State continues to face mounting political, economic, and social pressures related to the informal economy, including sweatshop labor. To this end, the following programs, services, and initiatives have been developed by the government which also tackle the protection of sweatshop worker’s rights. A summary of these are provided in the table below.
