The Organisation/Group Award
Sarawak Women for Women Society (SWWS) was
honoured for its effort in the promotion of women’s
equality and elimination of violence against women
and children, as well as in empowering young
women in rural areas of Sarawak.
iii.
The Media Awards
Two journalists, Wan Noor Hayati of Berita Harian and Elantiraian Perumal of The Star,
were honoured in the print media category for their investigative reporting as well as
their bravery in uncovering human rights violations that have affected the rights of
grassroots communities.
BFM89.9 was honoured in the broadcast category for demonstrating fair and balanced
reporting on community and social justice as well as human rights issues of public
concern.

The Government Award
Markas Angkatan Bersama from the Malaysian Armed Forces was honoured for its
voluntary initiative in providing informal education to the underprivileged children of
Pulau Berhala, Sandakan since 2009.

The Business Award
DiB Coffees of Hawaii was honoured for providing equal employment and capacity
building opportunities for deaf people in its commendable effort towards promoting a
rights-based business approach.

Special Award
This went to Hafrulidzwan Mohd Isa for his continuous efforts in promoting human
rights best practices and awareness of the CRC among school communities.
