Bachok, Kelantan 3 November (b) Human Rights and Islam A seminar entitled ‘Islam dan Hak Asasi Manusia’ was held on 3 November at Hotel Perdana, Kota Bharu, Kelantan. The main objectives of the programme were to identify human rights issues related to Islam and to discuss with and make suggestions to relevant agencies regarding matters of Islam and human rights. Approximately 120 participants consisting of officers from various Government departments, members of Parliament, members of the State Legislative Assembly, teachers from religious schools, community leaders and representatives from local NGOs. Various issues concerning Islamic principles and values were discussed and this event provided the opportunity for the participants and the Commission to exchange views. 26
