Aminath Naushan Abdul Muhaimin

Aminath Naushan Abdul Muhaimin is a champion of human rights and social justice, with
a background in psychology, NGO management, and capacity building. Her studies in
psychology and rehabilitation therapy from Curtin University provided her insights into
human behaviour, which she applies in her humanitarian work. She is currently the Secretary
General of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives and previously served as
Director of the National Preventive Mechanism. Naushan has shown strong commitment to
preventing human rights abuses and protecting marginalised groups. Before this, she was
the Executive Director of Care Society, an NGO empowering individuals with disabilities.
She initiated projects to improve their quality of life and foster inclusivity. Naushan has also
held consultancy roles, assessing the legal framework for elections in the Maldives and
contributing to transparency and accountability in these processes. She has written for
publications like the World Disaster Report (2016), addressing the link between disability
and psychosocial support in vulnerable communities.
Maimuna Al-Sulaimani

National Human Rights Commission of Oman
Maimuna Al-Sulaimani has been appointed by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tareq and
the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said as a member of the Omani Commission of
Human Rights for the term spanning from 2019 to 2027. She is a licensed lawyer at the
Supreme Court. She serves as the Deputy Chairperson of the committee for regulating
the labour market and a member of the education committee at the Oman Chamber of
Commerce & Industry. She is the first female to hold a legal leadership position in the
private sector. Since 2004, Maimuna has been the first Omani academic lecturer at Sultan
Qaboos University. She earned her L.L.M. in Commercial Law from the University of
Glasgow in 2004, achieving distinction for her Corporate Crimes & Governance dissertation.
Maimuna graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Jordan in 1999.
Additionally, Maimuna Al-Sulaimani is the Editor-in-Chief of a magazine, a prominent media
figure, a respected licensed legal trainer, a compliance officer, an effective board member,
and an author.
