Survey and research on human rights conditions3) The Commission’s surveys and commissioned studies are designed to give an accurate picture of the various human rights issues and situations facing the nation. The final reports are used as basic data for policy recommendations. A. Survey of sexual discrimination in the media Given the influence of broadcast programs on the public, the Commission monitored distorted gender views against women in the media. The result showed that, in general, men have a higher coverage than women in entertainment and news programs; in terms of age, older men play important roles, but for women, these roles are mostly taken up by young female; also, professional female interviewers had a 5.8% coverage, while professional male interviewers had a 20.8% coverage, possibly contributing to the fixed dichotomy that men are more professional than women. B. Survey of how international human rights standards are perceived by children and youths In accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international standards on children rights, the Commission conducted a children awareness survey. The result showed that 77.2% of parents, 34% of children, and 24% of teachers had never received human rights education, and that the human rights education in schools and homes has a considerable influence on the level of human rights awareness. 3) S  ee "Section 4.
