Australian Human Rights Commission Annual Report 2021–22 Goal 2: More people, communities and organisations respect and understand human rights Outcome 2.1 Our education activities increase capability among individuals, communities and organisations to promote and protect human rights and address discrimination. Participants in education activities benefit through achieving the stated human rights learning and capability objectives. What this looks like Most participants in our adult training programs report: • satisfaction with the quality and relevance of the training • increased understanding, expertise, reframed attitudes. Human Rights Education and Training The Workplace and Community Education team, which sat within the Public Engagement Team during the reporting period, is responsible for making the Commission’s work accessible, digestible, fit for purpose and engaging to the broader public and identified target audiences. This involves translating the knowledge created via our policy, complaints and legal functions and communicating them in diverse ways to reach our audiences beyond standard reports, submissions and summaries. Key functions of the team are: development of knowledge translation resources that make human rights accessible to the public and identified target audiences, development and delivery of human rights and anti-discrimination training programs (face-to-face and eLearning) and provision of advice on developing knowledge translation resources for policy projects and products. During this reporting period the team was significantly impacted by the lockdown and COVID-19 pandemic and a reduction in resources. However, significant work 42
