They were rushed to National Taiwan University Hospital, where they were both hospitalized for serious injuries. Society was outraged at how elected legislators could be beaten by the police to the point of hospitalization. The incident fanned the flames of the already flaring movement “supporting amendments to depose the old thieves”.
