Accountability
Understanding who your various stakeholders are in relation to your
gender strategy.
Activity
Any action that takes place to reach planned outcomes, such as
programmes, projects, processes, publications, events, tools.
Baseline
A starting point before an activity happens, which is used as a
comparison to measure change following the activity.
Impact
The change that occurs as a result of activities, outputs and/or
outcomes.
Indicators
The measures you will use to track progress towards, or achievement
of, planned outputs and outcomes
Inputs
The resources needed to achieve your outputs and outcomes.
Inputs can include your NHRI’s staff, financial, physical and technical
resources
Purpose Statement
Sets out what your NHRI strives to do in order to achieve your vision.
Monitoring, Evaluation,
Accountability and
Learning (MEAL)
The process by which you will understand whether your gender strategy
is working and/or whether any changes need to be made to your
actions, inputs or outputs.
Outcomes
The changes that your NHRI is working towards. They can be shortterm, medium-term or long-term
Output
The product or service that you will deliver through the activity
Strategic plan
A document that sets out what you intend to achieve, usually over a
three-to-five year period
Strategic priorities
The key gender rights issues that your NHRI will focus on to achieve
your vision and purpose
Values
Your guiding principles that set out how you will behave with each other
and with stakeholders
Vision
Sets out what you want to achieve in order for there to be equality for
all genders
