Case Study: The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM)
The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) began developing its Gender Strategy
by first obtaining Commissioner approval. Once gained a Gender Strategy Development Team
(GSDT) was formed to facilitate the process. The GSDT is made up of leadership, management
and staff representatives with specific roles assigned to each.
Recognising that organisational change takes time, a key feature of the Commission’s approach is
its staged roadmap working with specific divisions of the Commission over a 5-year period.
