It is to be noted that the number of complaints lodged with JAMAKON in 2014
increased by considerable margin than the earlier year (in 2013 the number of
complaint lodged was 433).
Suo-moto Complaints
In the year 2014, JAMAKON took up 23 incidents of human rights violations suo motu
for investigation under its complaint handling mechanism. Among them 8 complaints
were disposed of, and the remaining 15 complaints are pending for disposal.
JAMAKON’s effort to Monitoring of State Obligations and Responsiveness
by the Government towards JAMAKON Concerns Increased:
In accordance with its legal mandate, JAMAKON serves as the key national human rights
watchdog that watches over implementation of state obligations to respect and protect
National Human Rights Commission (JAMAKON)
