ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
PROGRAMS, PROJECTS AND
ACTIVITIES
LEGAL ASSISTANCE
The GEWHRC provided legal assistance and
advice to women and persons of diverse SOGIE to
walk-in clients in coordination with the CHR NCR
Regional Office. Likewise, complaints and cases
received by the GEWHRC were referred to oncerned
Regional Offices for appropriate action.
3RD GENDER OMBUD GUIDELINES
ROLL-OUT AND GAD PLANNING AND
BUDGETING TRAINING
On 24-27 February 2016, the GEWHRC
conducted its 3rd Gender Ombud Guidelines Rollout and Gender Planning and Budgeting Training
for the Visayas and Mindanao Group at the Grand
Regal Hotel in Davao City. It was attended by 35
participants consisting of lawyers, investigators,
information officers, and administrative officers.
The three-day training consisted of an
introduction to the role of the Commission as
Gender Ombud and the Gender Ombud Guidelines,
and the use of Regional Women’s and LGBTI
Human Rights Profile Monitoring Tool. The training
also includes orientation on SOGIE, the provisions
of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms
of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), and
the resolutions of the CEDAW Committee. Gender
Planning and Budgeting was also part of the training.
The training involved speakers from GALANG
Philippines (a lesbian, bisexual and transgender
grassroots organization) and PCW as well as wellknown advocates and experts in the field such as
Atty. Claire Padilla and Atty. Claire Luczon.
INTERVIEW OF NOMINEES TO THE
ASEAN COMMISSION ON WOMEN AND
CHILDREN
The CHR as Gender Ombud supported
the call for open, transparent, and participatory
processes in the selection of the Philippine
representative to the ASEAN Commission on the
Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women
and Children (ACWC). On 4 March 2016, an
interview of the ACWC nominees was held at the
Bulwagang Ka Pepe. Nominees were Ana Maria
Nemenzo, Ma. Lourdes Rallonza, and Lila Shahani.
