The term racism is used throughout the research, inclusive of prejudice
(“…differential assumptions about the abilities, motives, and intentions of others
according to their race”) and racial discrimination (“differential actions towards
others according to their race”) (Jones, 2000, pp. 1212-1213). Muslim and Sikh
denominations were also included as visible religious minority groups in the research
because of their extensive experiences and perspectives on racism in Aotearoa New
Zealand.
