Impact Following on from the dialogues, there have been multiple examples of collaboration between NHRIs and their IGMs: ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Representatives to AICHR and NHRIs in South-East Asia will hold an annual dialogue to discuss joint cooperation activities NHRIs and civil society organisations were invited to attend the APF-AICHR-EU Regional Consultation on Business and Human Rights, Environment and Climate Change in ASEAN in May 2023, hosted by Malaysia’s Representative to AICHR APF organised a side event during the APF-AICHR-EU Regional Consultation on Business and Human Rights, Environment and Climate Change in ASEAN in May 2023, involving Representatives to AICHR and representatives from NHRIs, the ASEAN Secretariat and civil society organisations. The NHRIs of Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand invited the participation of their national Representative to AICHR in key events related to human rights, climate change and the environment in 2022 and 2023 The Office of the Philippines’ Representative to AICHR has engaged with the NHRI on other human rights issues of concern, including a request for an opinion on the situation of Filipino human rights defenders living outside of the Philippines. In Samoa, the Pacific Climate Centre Manager, who is also the Gender Champion, has continued to weave human rights within the organisation's program of work and now reaches out to the NHRI for advice on human rights-based approaches. In Samoa, the NHRI was able to partner with IGMs, including SPC and SPREP and PCCC, to carry out human rights and climate change awareness and capacity building with senior members of the civil service, as well as CSO leaders. In Fiji, the NHRI conducted an extensive survey on the impact of climate change on human rights in communities across the country and are proposing to share their findings with government and partners, including IGMs. In the Pacific, NHRIs have built and deepened partnerships with regional CSOs working on climate change and human rights. -8-
