CIVIL SOCIETY ENGAGEMENTS
WOMEN’S RIGHTS
A Seminar was organised regarding 16 Days of Activism in collaboration with the Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women.
A Seminar on International Women’s Day was organised in collaboration with Blue Veins at
Jinnah Law College, Peshawar.
KP team participated in “Provincial Conference on the Status of Women Workers in
Province” organised by United Rural Development Organization (URDO) in Northwest
Teaching Hospital, Peshawar.
Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Coordinator participated in a one-day provincial
conference on “Women’s Inheritance Rights in the Newly Merged Districts” organised by
Provincial Secretariat of Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with Community Appraisal & Motivation Programme
(CAMP).
Coordinator NCHR visited Chitral Upper and Lower, to attend District Level Awareness
Campaign of NHRI’s working on human rights in the province and to participate in a twoday day seminar on “Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa” in Upper and Lower Chitral organised by Provincial Ombudsperson
Secretariat KP.
Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Coordinator visited Islamabad to participate in the first
Annual KP Women’s Conference “Women Unifying the Tribal Decade” organised by the KP
Commission on the Status of Women.
NCHR KP team participated in Provincial Harassment Watch Committee meeting to oversee
the implementation of Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act,
2010 organised by KP Ombudsperson Secretariat.
In observance of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign a
seminar was held at Area Study Centre, University of Peshawar, which was attended by
students and professors, representatives from CSOs, members of the transgender
community, government officials, media, and lawyers. The event was jointly organised by
NCHR KP, Aurat Foundation, Blue Veins, EVAW/G Alliance, Women Parliamentary Caucus
KP Assembly.
In observance of 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence a dialogue on the Role
of Men and Boys in Ending Violence against Women, was held at Mardan Press Club. The
event was jointly organised by NCHR KP, Blue Veins, EVAW/G Alliance, Women
Parliamentary Caucus KP Assembly and Directorate of Social Welfare Department KP. More
than 40 CSOs, women councillors, government officials, media, and local community
members participated.
