      Member Minority had a meeting with Minister for Human Rights to apprise him of the work done by the Commission. The Minister appreciated NCHR’s efforts regarding the release of 75 juvenile prisoners. Meeting with Rev Fedrick John, Bishop of Karachi and Balochistan Diocese to discuss multifarious issues faced by the Christian Community in Balochistan. Meeting with Secretary Information Government of Balochistan, Mr. Hamza Shafqat to discuss challenges and issues faced by the journalists in Balochistan and interventions needed to protect media persons. Meeting with Federal Ombudsman, Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi to discuss the establishment of complaints referral mechanism between two institutions for the prompt actions on complaints. Application submitted by the staff of Municipal Corporation Sialkot including Mr. Shahid Masih and others regarding the non-implementation of an order of the Punjab Labour Court according to which 12 daily wagers had been regularised. Notice was issued in which comprehensive report was demanded. Report was received from the office of Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Sialkot according to which the main petitioner Mr. Shahid Masih had been regularised after 22 years of service. Minority Office took up the issue of forced conversions and wrote letters to concerned ministries to do the needful. CIVIL SOCIETY PARTNERSHIPS AND ENGAGEMENTS: WOMEN’S RIGHTS     Member Minority along with Member Balochistan conducted a surprise visit to rescue a girl illegally detained at a psychiatric clinic at Chatta Bakhtawar. Meeting with Federal Ombudsperson for the Protection Against Harassment at the Workplace to discuss the number of cases of harassment belonging to minority communities and to establish a referral mechanism for a speedy resolution of complaints on harassment. Meeting with Chairperson NCSW to discuss the establishment of a working relationship between both Commissions to uniformly address violations of women’s rights. Meeting on the “Formation of Integrated Response Mechanism for the Protection of Women and Child Rights in ICT”, organised by Peace and Justice Network. CHILDREN’S RIGHTS   Meeting with Chairperson NCRC to discuss the number and nature of cases of minority children and to expedite the redress of child abuse cases referred to NCHR. Visited the Child Rehabilitation Centre with Developmental Disorders in H-8 Islamabad to inspect the human rights condition at the centre. 46
