(c) the salaries, benefits and allowances payable, in accordance with its budget
as approved by Parliament; and
(d) the total establishment or the total number of staff that are required to be
appointed, in accordance with the budget as approved by Parliament.
(9) The salaries, benefits and allowances payable to the Secretary-General to
Parliament and any person employed in Parliament are a charge on the Consolidated
Fund.
(10) Parliament shall ensure that adequate funding and resources are made available
to the Secretary-General to Parliament, to enable him or her to independently and
effectively exercise the powers and perform the functions and duties of the SecretaryGeneral to Parliament.
Remunerations
80. The remuneration, including salaries and allowances and benefits, payable to,
the President, the Prime Minister, other Ministers, the Leader of the Opposition, the
Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of Parliament and a member of Parliament shall be
prescribed by a written law, and must not be varied to their disadvantage, except as part
of an overall austerity reduction similarly applicable to all officers of the State.
