They also ensure that the rights of vulnerable categories, such as women, children, refugees, internally displaced persons as well as minori es, na onal, linguis c or sexual, are protected. 2.8.2 The Commission received 99 complaints concerning alleged harassment of Human Rights Defenders. Three Cases pertaining to HRDs were finally closed with direc on by the Commission during the year 2022-23. Five cases pertaining to the Human Rights Defenders were disposed of with direc on. 2.9 Founda on Day 2.9.1 The Commission celebrated its 30th Founda on Day on 12 October 2022 at Bhim Auditorium, Dr. Ambedkar Interna onal Centre, New Delhi. His Excellency Mr. Jagdeep Dhankhar, Vice President of India, was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Her Excellency Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Hon'ble President of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Human Rights Day is celebrated by the Commission every year to commemorate the adop on of the Universal Declara on of Human Rights by the United Na ons General Assembly. 2.11 RTIs 2.11.1 During the year 2022-23, the Commission received 2264 RTI applica ons, and disposed all within 30 days. 64 RTI applica ons were transferred to other Ministries/ departments/ orgnisa ons. 2.11.2 A total of 235 appeals were received and disposed of within a month by the Appellate Authority. 19 no ces were received from C.
