National Human Rights Commission of Korea Symbol of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea To signify the mandate and credibility of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (hereafter “NHRCK” or “the Commission”) as a national institution for the promotion and protection of human rights, a simple symbol of formative beauty was designed. For the color of the symbol, the Commission used blue, which represents ‘creation’ and ‘life’ as well as ‘spring’, particularly according to the YinYang Theory. It was chosen to express the identity of the Commission and its commitment to human beings. The symbol also combines the image of a dove and a hand to embody the message of ‘peace’ and ‘tolerance’. It is placed next to a circle, the most primal shape, to communicate the following ideas: ‘centeredness and concentration’, ‘diversity and positivity’, ‘sun and brightness’, ‘harmony and tolerance’, and ‘justice and fairness’.
